Enabling Innovative Safety Solutions in EV Manufacturing
Electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing is on a sharp upward trajectory and will only grow further in the near future. According to KPMG’s Global Automotive Executive Survey 2021, EVs are set to make up half the auto market in China, Japan, the US, and western Europe by 2030, and around 40 percent in Brazil and India.
Safe, eco-friendly, cost-effective, and innovative assembly and joining technologies are the need of the hour with the growth of electrification. To support the growing demand for EVs that deliver extended range, performance, and safety, STANLEY® Engineered Fastening works with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), automotive tiers, and battery and charging manufacturers to develop fasteners, tools, and assembly and joining solutions that complement electric vehicle production.
Our expertise and innovation allow us to custom-design optimum precision-engineered solutions for an increasingly electric future. We leverage years of automotive and transportation experience with a unique combination of assets and insights to help industry leaders and engineers drive innovation in electric mobility and energy storage applications.
An EV has much more insulation between components and the chassis, and bodies are made of a combination of conductive, poorly conductive, and non-conductive materials. In addition, consumers want more and more accessories that require electric power. These changes make grounding both more challenging and, in many cases, far more important.
An EV battery, meanwhile, is a complex component made with many parts and regulations required to achieve both peak performance and safety, with thermal and pressure management critical factors. When it comes to the challenges associated with the management of these factors, keeping the battery system stable and in its optimal temperature range of 20°C to 40°C – and doing so efficiently, effectively, and safely – becomes increasingly difficult.
Our engineers have conducted thorough research and testing to explore the damaging impact of thermal propagation and over-pressurization, and developed new solutions to help your lithium-ion battery achieve maximum performance safely.
STANLEY® Engineered Fastening is going to exhibit at the EV Japan Expo in Tokyo on January 25-27, 2023. Our domain experts and engineers are looking forward to discussing advanced technologies with industry professionals at the event to understand how we can enable the EV market – from electric two-wheelers to passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks and buses – to deliver safer, lighter, more efficient, and eco-friendly vehicles.
